There are some simple things you can do to ensure the holidays run smoothly in your home.
Use these five tips to have a stress free and joyous holiday. This should be a time of year when you are enjoying your family and making lifelong memories.
Organization Tips for the Holiday Season
Plan Ahead
The holidays come at the same year after year, which gives you plenty of time to plan ahead. Don’t wait until the last-minute to start doing your holiday shopping. Keep a running list of things you need for each holiday. You should also keep any holiday decorations organized in boxes that are clearly marked.
Set a Budget
Money is the number one stress factor during the holidays. There are presents to buy, dinner parties to host, decorations and special events your family likes to attend. All of these things combined can really put a big stress on the family budget. The best thing you can do is save throughout the year and set a holiday budget!
Saving throughout the year will ensure you don’t have to come up with all of this money at one time. Setting up a holiday budget will also allow you to visually see how much money you will be spending during the holiday season. Let your kids know up front what the gift budget is per child. Letting them know upfront will allow them to make a wish list that fits within your budget so you don’t overspend.
Make a Holiday Shopping List
Prior to the holidays make a holiday shopping list of everything you will need to purchase during the holiday season. Carry this list with you in your purse or on your phone. When you see items on sale pick them up! Stocking up on holiday items throughout the year will not only help you save money but will lessen your shopping time during the active holiday season.

Have a Gift Wrapping Station
During the holidays you will be wrapping A LOT of gifts! Make the gift wrapping part of the holidays easier on yourself and set up a gift wrapping station. Designate one area of your home to store wrapping paper, scissors, tape, name tags, bows and anything else you use to wrap gifts. Having one area of your home that holds everything you need for gift wrapping will make life that much easier.
Don’t Over Book Yourself
It’s so easy to over commit your family during the holidays. It seems like everyone has some sort of party or function going on. Accepting too many invitations, will only add more to your stress and could easily break the holiday budget you setup for the season. Carefully consider each holiday invitation you get and organize your time wisely. Also, make sure you are leaving plenty of time to spend with just your own family.
