Life is Not Always a Bed of Roses
Life is not always a bed of roses when your raising children and todays story is not flattering at all. At this moment in time, we are having some serious disconnect issues at home when it comes to chores, daily well being of the home tasks and especially schoolwork.
Life is Not Always a Bed of Roses
As much as I push my boys to do better at school and at home, the push back is two times harder when they don’t do what they are supposed to do. And to be quite honest…it bugs the crap out of me. While I can’t necessarily control what they do at school…I can control it at home with the hope that it will somehow spill over into their school environment and help them in life later down the road.
Because of everything going on…changes are happening. Not small changes…HUGE changes!
I won’t lie and tell you that it doesn’t hurt me to be in this position because quite frankly…it stinks. It makes me feel like such a failure because they aren’t doing what they are supposed to do after I have tried and tried to get them to understand the actions they take are only hurting them.
Through tears, I wrote my kids a letter earlier in the week explaining to them that changes were happening immediately. I wanted to share it here in hopes that my struggle in life will help someone else who may be going through the same thing. I don’t know if it’s going to work, but I’m up for trying anything above what we have already done at this point.
Letter to the Kids
This letter is now classified as our binding contract (that we all signed) so we can all do better. *crossing my fingers*
No one said parenting was easy and this really is just a stumbling block that we have to get passed. I know we are all going to struggle with these changes, but I know deep in my heart that we will get through this. It’s all about the baby steps we take!
